This is a great go to chocolate cookie
I made these cookie's for my husband and son.. I cooked them with and without the powdered sugar.. They turned out wonderful.. I made a double batch and had very few left to put in the cookie Jar.. This is a great go to recipe for chocolate cookies

I agree with the another post that it taste like chocolate chips. I also like chocolates and so i made one of this. I just prepared this last Christmas and my family all like it. Try also this site, www.chocolarious.com, better site.

Ok but not amazing
I agree with the post that these taste basically like chocolate chips. They are almost too chocolatey, and I love chocolate. After all work and mess I will say they smell delicious and were pretty good right out of the oven, but all in all, the recipe needed more something. More flour, more fat, more complexity. I don't know, just something

Chocolate heaven!
Forget wicked, these are heavenly! My only comment would be that if you choose to make them with the powdered sugar coating, as I did, be prepared for the dough to be VERY hard after an hour in the fridge (basically like fudge). I nearly broke my ice cream scoop trying to portion out the dough. But I'd happily buy another scoop just to eat these!

corn syrup?
Does anyone have this same recipe but without the corn syrup? It's so unhealthy for you, but I don't know what to use in it's place, to get the crackle effect.

These cookies are fabulous! I followed the recipe exactly except for adding 1/4 tsp. salt to the flour mixture. The baking directions were somewhat unclear to me where it says 'reverse cookie sheets...' Just turn the sheet in the oven around (for even heat distribution?) Bake each batch of cookies for a total of 16 minutes. Another clarification: the ingredient list calls for instant coffee but if you read the second option at the bottom of the recipe it says espresso powder. Instant coffee worked fine. When I make these again I will use a gourmet brand of chocolate chips v. the national brand in the yellow bag ;-) I also got more than 18 cookies from this recipe. They're very rich so you really don't want a monster cookie!
