Forget the delicious apples
My first choice for apples - cooking or eating are Macs, followed by Spies, Cortland,Granny Smiths and Gala.In any discussion with fellow cooks we agree that Delicious are okay for eating, but seldom anyone's first choice.I'd leave out the nuts and add extra oatmeal, especially if I don't know if anyone had nut allergies. Think I'll try this with some finely grated orange or lemon peel next time.

Great except for the apples
Why use golden delicious apples? They might be an OK eating apple, but in baking they are the pits. Use Cortlands, Macs, Romes, etc. Otherwise a good recipe that doesn't need the salt.

Delicious Apple Crisp Recipe
I skipped the allspice and cloves because I don't like them. I had a mixture of organic apples from my CSA fruit farm and they worked out well. It took a bit longer to bake than the recipe mentioned. Its a great apple crisp recipe and I would make it again. The pecans are a great addition. If you don't have pecans, walnuts would work well too--just don't leave out the nuts.
