We've been making burgers like that for years
Here in MN ,we call those kind of burgers "Juicy Lucy". They have been made this way for many years and we have competing taverns stating they were the first to create this kind of burger. This goes back to the 1950's...This recipe is good, but you need to visit Matt's Bar or the 5-8's Club and do the real taste comparison.

Surprise!
These were really good. The cheese didn't come out and the flavor was good. I didn't use as much paprika as the recipe called for and of course I added salt and pepper. The gruyere was a great call. Will make again with different cheeses

I use Gorgonzola.... ans blend herbs and spices in the meat before filling! HMMMMM.....
