Just needed a little help
Being reprinted from Eating Well mag, I knew I would make a couple of changes (I don't do "diet dessert"). I used all white cake flour and all butter (no oil) 1 stick. Also used sour cream instead of yogurt. Cut the almond flavor to about 1/2 tsp and just used a really full (rounded) cup of sugar. For the cherries, I used regular cherry brandy, as I already had some. It turned out beautifully and was delicious.

Disappointment
Sorry, but this cake recipe is BLAH and dry although I followed the recipe. The almond extract is the commanding taste, so omit and/or increase oil by 1/4 cup adding an extra 1/4 cup sugar,1/4 cup butter and tablespoon cinnamon.
