My father said these oatmeal cookies were 'the best he ever ate!'
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
½ c. soft shortening (Crisco, butter, regular margarine)
1¼ c. sugar
2 eggs
1/3 c. molasses
1 1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. quick cooking oats
¾ c. nuts (I use walnuts)
1 c. raisins (soaked and squeezed dry)
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400°. Cream together sugar with wet ingredients. Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture. Add nuts and raisins. Drop by rounded teaspoon 2' apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 - 10 minutes, or until brown. Cool on opened brown paper shopping bag, and store in covered tin to keep fresh and chewy. Makes 5 dozen.

And the winner is...
I pulled the recipe for a holiday cookie contest that my family was having. This recipe won! These cookies were so delicious, moist and easy to make. There was so much batter that I made 18 plain, 18 with raisins & 18 with walnuts. Fab-u-lous!!!
