I don't know what happened! The cookies didn't spread out; just stayed the way I put them on the cookie sheet. Also turned out hard as a bullet. The flavour is good but mine need to be dunked in tea or coffee! I'm so disappointed at the results - can anyone tell me what went wrong?!

spicy good
the cookies are much darker than the picture- more like gingerbread. The fresh ginger and crystallized ginger make the difference. Don't overbake. these burn easy. You might try rolling these in some sugar before baking.

Good Cookie
This recipe for a good cookie can be elevated to great with a couple of changes - first, brown the butter being careful not to burn it before mixing with the molasses. Use dark brown sugar and roll the cookies in a combination of brown sugar and turbinado sugar before baking.
