Tatertot Casserole

This recipe was designed by my mother when I was a kid. This was a quick and tasty meal for kids. This is kid friendly and easy to have the kids help out.
2 lb hamburger
1 pkg onion soup mix
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp pepper
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 pkg frozen tatertots
(other additions:  mushrooms, sauteed onions)
Mix hamburger, onion soup mix, garlic powder, and pepper. Mix well but don't overmix. Press into an ovenproof casserole dish. Pour soup over the meat and spread evenly. (Add mushrooms and sauteed onions here if you like.) Top with frozen tatertots in a neat fashion. Bake at 375 for 40 min or until center is cooked.

**Drain off fat with a turkey baster depending on the fatiness of the meat.**

**I sometimes put a glass in the center of the meatmixture to make a hole, this allows faster cooking in the center...depending on your oven**
