Used for a company beef barbecue in Texas in the early '50's. It's a basting sauce for beef and especially a nice well marbled chuck roast. Our favorite BBQ sauce.
1/4           Cup  Oil
1              Small  Onion -- grated
1              Clove  Garlic -- grated
1/2           Cup  Ketchup
2/3           Cup  Wine, Red
1         Tablespoon  Lemon Juice
2          Teaspoons  Worcestershire Sauce
1/2      Teaspoon  Oregano -- rubbed
1/2      Teaspoon  Basil

Saute the grated onion and garlic in 1/4 cup oil

Add and simmer the remaining ingredients

cook meat on low (high rack in gas grille with burner on low) or off the charcoal if using it. Indirect heat is best.

brush meat with sauce and turn and brush meat every 20 minutes.

Large chuck roast will take about 45 minutes to an hour.
