Yield:  Serves 4
In case you don't know what a compote is, it's a light fruit dish that can be spooned over pancakes and waffles, or served as a light dessert topped with all natural whipped cream.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
2 pints of your favorite berries, such as blueberry and raspberries or 2 cups sliced fruit such as pears, peaches, mango or apples. It's up to you!
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg

DIRECTIONS
Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until liquid is reduced to medium thick syrup.

Very nice...but
Nutmeg is such a strong spice that I did not use a full teaspoon. 1/4 teaspoon was MORE than enough. Otherwise the flavors of the fruit would be over powered.
