I have entered this in two workplace chili cook offs and have won 1st and 2nd place, although it was a bit hot for some of the judges!
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp oil
2 onions, chopped
5 cloves garlic, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 sweet pepper, chopped
5-10 hot peppers (mix of jalapeno and habanero, to taste)
1 pound round steak cut in 1/2" cubes
5 fresh tomatoes, peeled and chopped (or 1 can)
1 cup dry black beans, soaked in water
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. ground coriander
1 tbsp. chili powder
DIRECTIONS
Fry all vegetables in oil until browned, then add beef and cook well. Add tomatoes, beans and spices and simmer on low heat until the beans are cooked and the sauce is thick.
