Very easy cake recipe but with an interesting mix of flavors -- chocolate and applesauce. Nice dessert for picnics, potlucks, Sunday dinner or anytime you need something quick.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1 box Duncan Hines Chocolate cake mix
1/2 stick butter, melted
1 cup applesauce
3 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. apple pie spice
1 cup mini-chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS
In a large microwave-safe mixing bowl, melt butter for 1 minute on high. Add in this order, the chocolate cake mix, applesauce, vanilla, sour cream, eggs, apple pie spice and the mini-chocolate chips. With a wire whisk, blend the ingredients until well incorporated and most of the lumps are gone. Pour into a greased and floured Bundt cake pan (I use Baker’s Joy spray) and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a cake tester, inserted in center of cake, comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes, turn out onto rack and finish cooling before slicing or serve slightly warm with vanilla ice cream
