I SERVED IN THE 4TH ARMORED DIVISON STATIONED IN WEST GERMANY FROM 1963 TO 1966. AS AN OFFICER, I WOULD ATTEND VERY FORMAL OCCASIONS.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1 LB BACON CUT IN HALVES
2 LBS CHICKEN GIZZARDS CUT INTO HALVES
1 5 OZ. SLICED WATERCHESTNUTS
2 32 OZ. BOTTLES OF SOY SAUCE
1 PK, MEAT MARINADE
1 BOX PARTY TOOTHPICKS
DIRECTIONS
POUR SOY SAUCE IN LARGE BOWL, ADD MEAT MARINADE, STIR


ADD GIZZARD HALVES INTO MARINADE MIXTURE, MARINATE OVERNIGHT


LAY OUT BACON HALVES ON LARGE CUTTING BOARD OR PUT ON LARGE RAISED SIDED COOKIE SHEET.


PLACE A HALVE OF CHICKEN GIZZARD ON 1/2 SLICE OF BACON, ADD SLICED WATER CHESTNUT TO TOP OF GIZZARD.


ROLL BACON MIXTURE UP UNTIL YOU HAVE A ROLL OF BACON,


SECURE WITH PARTY TOOTHPICK,


PLACE ROLL SEAM SIDE DOWN ON COOKIE SHEET.


PLACE COOKIE SHEET INTO OVEN.


YOU CAN BAKE AT 400' FOR 15-20 MINUTES OR BROIL FOR 15 MINUTES.


(SOME PEOPLE BOIL GIZZARDS BEFORE HAND TO SPEED UP COOKING TIME)


MAKE SURE YOU CHECK FOR DONENESS EVERY 5 MINUTES FOR BOTH METHODS OF COOKING.


PLACE ON COLORFUL PARTY PLATE AND WALK AROUND SERVING GUESTS OR PLACE ON COUNTER ALONG WITH OTHER SERVE YOURSELF
