Almond Toffee Breakups

Total Time:  2 Hours
2 sticks butter
1 cup firmly packed Brown Sugar
1 'sleeve' Saltines (about 40)
1 cup Chocolate Chips (Dark/Semi-Sweet/Milk) depending upon your preference
1 small bag sliced almonds (about 1/2 cup)
Preheat oven to 400.

Line cookie sheet with non-stick Foil.

Spread the Saltines in a single layer on the cookie sheet.

Melt butter in a heavy 3-qt saucepan.

Add Brown Sugar and bring up to a full ROLLING BOIL.

Continue at Rolling Boil for 3 minutes (exactly).

Pour boiling sugar over the Saltines.

Spread with spatula to cover.

Bake for 2 1/2 minutes, then turn sheet 180 degrees & bake another 2 1/2 minutes.

Remove from oven & sprinkle chips over top.

Wait 3 minutes, then spread melted chocolate over entire surface.

Sprinkle sliced almonds on top (press down lightly).

Place baking sheet into refrigerator for 1 1/2 hours to cool.

Break into bite-sized pieces.

Store in refrigerator.
