Apricot Almond Bars

Total Time:  45 Minutes
3/4 cup butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 cup finely chopped almonds
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 12-15 jar apricot preserves
2 teaspoons almond extract
1/2 -3/4 cup slivered almonds
Cream; butter, powdered sugar, 1tsp almond extract

Stir together; flour,salt,finely choped almonds

Mix until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup for toping

Pat into a foiled ungreased oblong pan 9 x 13 x 2

Mix together; 2 tsp. almond extract & Apricot preserves cut up large apricot pieces

Spread; jam mixture over the crumbly layer

Top; with reserved crumbs & slivered almonds

Bake: 30 to 35 minnutes at 350 deg.

Cut while warm

Hints: Use a heavy foil

Lift foil out of pan before cutting

Maked about 36 bars

Practice this at home!
I am really sorry, Luci, to say that I found this recipe in serious need of editing. Perhaps the amounts were wrong, even the size of the pan... Thank heavens I tried it out on the home crowd first, as I'd been planning to take it to a party and threw it out instead.
