Family recipe for over 65 years
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
Molasses cookies (Aunt VIV)
Creamed together:
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
Then add well beaten egg and mix well
Add 2 cups molasses
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar.
In a separate bowl
7 cups sifted flour
2tsp ground ginger
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
Add 1 cup boiling H2O, little at a time;
Bake ungreased cookie sheet
350 for 12 minutes
Optional add walnut halves and/ or icing
DIRECTIONS
1.Cream sugar and shortening


2.Beat egg and add to above


3.Measure and add molasses and vinegar


4.Combine dry ingredients in a seperate bowl


5.Add dry ingredients gradually mixing well


6.Slowly add boiling water to mix


7.Drop cookies on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 12 minutes at 350 degrees
