Bacon-Mushroom Cheese Turkey Burger

  • 3 pounds ground turkey
  • 1/3 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup button mushrooms, sliced
  • 12 slices turkey bacon slices, crisply cooked & crumbled
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 12 medium hamburger buns, split and toasted


Preheat a grill a broiler.

Gently combine the ground turkey, onion, garlic and pepper. Mix well. Shape into 12 4-ounce patties. Cover and reserve.

Combine the cheese, mushrooms, bacon, green onion and mayonnaise; mix well.

Grill or broil the burgers 4 to 6 inches from the heat at medium temperature. Cook for about 10 to 12 minutes, turning only once. Cook to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

During the last 3 to 4 minutes of cooking, place 1/4 cup cheese topping on each burger. Continue cooking until the cheese melts. Serve in split toasted buns.
