Carolina Minced Turkey Barbecue

  • 2 cups grilled turkey
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1 1/2 cups deli coleslaw
  • 4 sandwich buns, split horizontally and toasted


Cut the meat from the bones and mince.

In a 3-quart saucepan over high heat, combine the vinegar, water, molasses, red pepper flakes, black pepper and salt with the minced turkey. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat, cover and simmer 30 minutes.

Uncover and simmer additional 30 to 35 minutes, or until the liquid has evaporated.

To serve, spoon the barbecue mixture over burger buns and top with coleslaw.
