Cheese Filled Hamburger Patties

Serves 4


  • 1 1/4 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon prepared barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup (sauce)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4 slices cheddar, brie, Camembert or blue-vein cheese
  • 7 ounces can crushed pineapple


Combine the meat, sauces and onion. Divide the mixture into 8 portions and shape evenly into thick, flat patties.

Prepare a fire in a grill to medium heat. Place a cheese slice on 4 of the patties. Drain the pineapple, spoon onto patties and top with remaining patties. Carefully mold the patty so that it encases the cheese completely (no visible joints). Grill, turning occasionally, for 15-20 minutes, or until done to your liking. Assemble in usual way.
