Chili Barbecue Basting Sauce

Makes 3 cups
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and finely minced
- 20 ounces of canned tomatoes
- Dash Tabasco sauce
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in a saucepan.
Add the onion and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
Add the garlic, tomatoes, Tabasco, chili powder and remaining oil.
Bring to a boil and cook over low heat for 15 minutes. Add the vinegar and cook for 10 minutes more. Use as a basting sauce.
