Chocolate Almond Surprise Angel Food Cake

This is a very pretty dessert not only before it is sliced but also after. The marachino cherries gives it just a little bit of a special flavor,
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1 package (16 oz.) Angel Food Cake Mix
24 large marshmallows
6 Hershey Chocolate Candy Bars - chopped
2/3 cup milk
1 small jar Marachino Cherries - chopped
1 container (12 oz.) frozen whipped topping - thawed & divided
1/2 cup slivered almonds - roasted and crushed
DIRECTIONS
Prepare the cake accordig the package directions, using an ungreased 10 inch tube pan. Cool.


For filling: In a small sauce pan, combine the marshmallows, candy bars and the milk. Cook and stir over low heat until the marshmallows and candy bars melted. Add the chopped marachino cherries. Transfer to a small bowl; cool to room temperature. Fold in 1 cup whipped topping.


Cut the cake horizontally into three layers. Place bottom layer on a serving plate; spread top with a third of the filling and sprinkle a third of the roasted almonds. Repeat layers twice, leaving the almonds off the top of the last layer. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.


Frost top and sides of cake with the remaning whipped topping and sprinkle the top with the remaining roasted almonds.
