Country Chicken Bake

RECIPE INGREDIENTS
3 lbs. Frying chicken 1 cup chopped onion
5 Tlbs. Flour 1 cup chopped celery
½ cup butter ½ teas. Salt
1/8 teas. Pepper
4 Chicken bouillon cubes
2 cups boiling water
Corn Bread Topping:
1 cup flour ¼ teas. thyme
½ cup corn meal         1/8 teas. pepper
1 Tlb. Baking powder 1 Tlb. Shortening
2 teas. Sugar 3 eggs, slightly beaten
½ teas. Salt ¾ cup milk
¼ teas. Sage
Bake until done.
DIRECTIONS
In frying pan brown butter, flour, onion, celery, salt and pepper. Pour water and chicken bouillon in frying pan, heat and pour over chicken in large baking pan. Bake 350° F for 30 to 40 minutes. Add Corn Bread Topping bake until topping is done 20-30 minutes.
