Cranberry Torte

This Holiday treat has been in our family for 4 generations. My Grandmother first introduced it to us and it has been a tradition to serve this deliciously rich dessert for every Thanksgiving and Christmas meal. The butter sauce is a must!
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
Torte:
1 cup sugar
1/4 c butter
1 egg
1/2 c milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 c flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 c whole raw cranberries
Butter Sauce:
1 1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 c half 'n half
3/4 c butter
1 tsp vanilla
DIRECTIONS
For the torte:


Beat sugar and butter together. Add egg, milk, vanilla & salt.


Add flour, baking powder. Mix well.


Fold in cranberries.


Pour into a 9x13 ungreased pan.


Bake


375° for 20-30 min


For the Butter Sauce:


Combine sugar, half 'n half & butter. Bring to a simmer and cook 10 min. Add vanilla.


Serve hot over torte.
