I come from Maine and grew up on fish chowder. But when I lived out west for a number of years I was influenced by where I lived and changed a few things. This is a very simple recipe and tastes even better the second day.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1 lb. carrots cut in pennies(do not need to peel, just scrub)
8-9 med. potatoes cut in large dice(leave on peels if you like)
1 lg. onion chopped
2 stalks celery sliced thin
salt to taste
1 1/2 to 2 lbs fish(cod, haddock or halibut)cut into bite size pieces
1/2 stick butter or margerine
1 can of evaporated milk
pepper to taste
water to cover vegetables
