Grandma Zimmerman's Coffee Cake

ingredients

  • For the Coffee Cake:
  • 2 sticks plus 2 teaspoons butter, softened
  • One 8-ounce block cream cheese
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon real vanilla extract
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/3 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/3 cup half-and-half
  • For the Topping:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup of pecans
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

FOR THE COFFEE CAKE:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Whip the butter, cream cheese and sugar together. Add the remaining ingredients and stir until mixed. Pour into a greased coffee cake pan.

FOR THE TOPPING:

In a small chopper, mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 pecans and 1 tablespoon cinnamon. Sprinkle on top of the cake mixture

Bake 50-55 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool thoroughly on a wire rack.
