This has been passed down through the generations. My husband and stepdaughter fight over the leftovers. They are even better the next day. She always wants a batch before she heads home...she is 11. Easy to keep ingredients on hand.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1 lb ground beef
12 oz pasta (elbow, penne, etc)
6 oz tomato paste
1 clove garlic, minced
1 med onion, diced
1 can condensed tomato soup
1 can of water using tomato soup can
1 Tbsp sugar
8 slices american cheese
salt/pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
Use large skillet, brown hamburger and onions. Drain fat. Start pasta in salted water and cook to directions. In the meat mixture, add garlic and cook for 2 min. Add tomato paste, soup, water, sugar, and salt/pepper to taste. Simmer sauce for up to 1 hour.

Drain pasta and mix into sauce in the skillet. Mix well. Top with american cheese slices and cover for 2 min with heat on medium. Take off heat when cheese has melted. Add more cheese or less as you like. Serve with salad and garlic bread.
