Grilled Chuck w/ El Paso BBQ sauce

Got this sauce recipe in 1954 from an Army friend while serving at Ft. Bliss, TX. in El Paso. His family used it for their annual company BBQ. and we cooked chuck roast for 6 families many weekends and have used it ever since.
1/4           Cup  Oil
1              Small  Onion -- grated
1              Clove  Garlic -- grated
1/2           Cup  Ketchup
2/3           Cup  Wine, Rose
1         Tablespoon  Lemon Juice
2          Teaspoons  Worcestershire Sauce
1/2      Teaspoon  Oregano -- rubbed
1/2      Teaspoon  Basil
Saute the grated onion and garlic in 1/4 cup oil

Add and simmer the remaining ingredients

cook meat on low (high rack in gas grille with burner on low) or indirect fire if using charcoal. Indirect heat is best for either method.

brush meat with sauce and turn meat every 15 minutes. Let rest,off the heat, for half an hour before serving.

Large chuck roast will take about an hour.
