Great to keep slices stored in freezer for unexpected company dessert in a hurry! Just set out to thaw or briefly head in a microwave oven. Also great as a base for fresh fruit topping short-cake style.
2 sticks Oleo or butter
1/2 cup Crisco
3 cups Sugar
5 eggs
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup milk
Louisiana Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe at
Cream Oleo(or butter), Crisco & sugar until well blended.

Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.

Sift all dry ingredients (including the Cocoa) together.

Mix vanilla into the milk.

Alternately add the dry ingredient and milk mixture beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.

Grease & lightly flour a tube pan.

Pour batter into tube pan and bake at 325°F for 1 hour or until done

(Do Not Overbake!)

Tastes like a big brownie, but try adding pecans
my wife has made this cake for my birthday and other special occasions for the past 30+ years. If you like brownies, you'll love this cake. But you need to add one ingredient: pecan pieces.
