Mom's American Chop Suey

This recipe was a staple in our home. My Mom calls it American Chop Suey and it is a common weeknight dish in New England where I grew up. I don't know why it's called chop suey, but I do know that it is quick, easy, and delicious!
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 pound elbow macaroni, cooked according to package directions and drained
1 jar spaghetti sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella/provolone cheese mix
1. Prepare elbow macaroni as directed on the package and drain.

2. While the macaroni is cooking, brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet or large pot. Drain and return to pan.

3. Gently stir in the spaghetti sauce and heat through, about 5 minutes. Stir in the macaroni and the shredded cheese. Heat until the cheese melts. Serve.
