I am now of an age to be able to collect social security and this has been a favorite dish in our family since I was about 8 or 9 years old. Thanks, Mom.
2 med. onions, chopped
3 tablespoons butter (or margarine)
1 cup chopped celery
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup rice - uncooked - regular (not instant)
1 pound ground beef
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1 can Cream of Chicken soup
1 can (5 oz) water chestnuts, sliced
1/4 teaspoon soy sauce
1 can bean sprouts, rinsed and drained
Chinese Crisp Noodles
Brown onions and celery in butter. Remove from heat and set aside.

Brown ground beef and rice together.

Combine soups (do not dilute), add soy sauce, water and pepper, browned onions and celery, and browned beef and rice,. sliced water chestnuts. Stir in bean sprouts.

Pour into a greased 2 quart casserole.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes covered.

Remove cover and bake an additional 30 minutes.

Serve over warm crisp noodles.

I am 78 years old...I used this recipe for years in the 1950's. In moving I lost it and no matter how I tried, I couldn't create it. Thank you so much for sharing. I intend to savor every bite .
