My Grandmother invented this dish and one we all grew up with. It's easy ( low cost) filling, low in fat and made in one skillet. (easy clean-up) Kids will love it. We did.
1 LB Ground Chuck
1/2 Small Yellow Onion (Chopped)
2 Cans Chicken Noodle Soup (I use Campbells)
1 c white rice (Uncooked)
1/2 LB sliced mushrooms
1 c frozen peas
S & P to taste
Brown gr. beef in skillet (drain well)

add onion and mushrooms

add raw rice and stir

add Chicken Noodle soup

stir well and add water enough to cover (about one can) you can add more if needed

turn down to low heat and cover and simmer for 15 min.

Uncover and sprinkle peas on top and recover and cook for another 5-10 min.

You can add a bit of graded Cheddar Cheese on top if you wish.

Serve with tossed Salad and toasted Bread on the side

I gave it a try.
After reading the ingredients I wasn't going to try this, it sounded too mundane, but I had all the ingredients on hand in my pantry so decided to give it a try in case the combined flavors added up to something new. Guess what? Nothing new, don't bother, just glop!
