Organic Autumn Pear Crisp
The sweet scent of cinnamon fills your home. Your spoon crunches though the crisp topping as vanilla ice cream melts into the spiced pears. Dessert doesn't get much better than this!
- 1/4 cup turbinado sugar
- 2 tablespoons organic, unbleached all-purpose flour
- 6 medium organic ripe pears, peeled, cored and cut crosswise into 1/4-inch slices
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 cup organic, unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup organic oatmeal
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 stick Wild Oats butter cut into 6 pieces
Pre-heat an oven to 350 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, combine the turbinado sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, pears and vanilla. Toss pears until lightly coated.
Butter a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan and fan pear slices in the pan covering the bottom.
Combine flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, oatmeal, sea salt and butter in a food processor. Pulse until the mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over the pears and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes or until the topping is crisp and golden. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
