Hunter's Stew
2 lbs White Cabbage
1 lb Sauerkraut (1lb) with half of the juice (there will be more juice once it gets stewing)
1/2 lb Sausage
1/2 lb Beef stew meat
1/2 lb Pork
1/2 lb Bacon
2 Onions
Salt, pepper, 2-4 bay leafs, thyme, paprika, curry (dash), allspice, soy sauce
Saute thinly sliced onion and a clove of garlic with a tablespoon of oil until golden, add cut up meat in cubes and sear until brown, add sauerkraut, cabbage (thinly sliced, approx. ¼ inch wide) & add half of the seasoning. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours. 30 minutes before it is done stewing add the remaining half of the seasoning. When ready to serve, remove bay leaves, taste for seasoning. Serve with reserved bacon, boiled potatoes, sour cream and thick crusty bread.
