Polish Stew

A good, hot and hearty meal to come home to.
1 pkg. Polska Kielbasa or Polish Sausage
4-6 russett potatoes
1 sm. pkg baby carrots
1 sm. head cabbage
4 stalks celery
1 sm.-med. onion(depending on how much onion you like)
3/4-1cup water
Peel and wash potatoes.

Peel onion and cabbage and wash celery.

Cut all vegetables into bite-sized chunks. Cut up cabbage in strips or shred.

Cut meat into bite-sized pieces. Layer in crock pot. Starting with cabbage, then potatoes, then carrots, then onion, then celery and last the meat.

Salt and pepper; to taste; the cabbage and pot. but salt carrots and celery only. I don't salt or pepper the onions but you can.

Pour the water over all but DO NOT STIR. I use just enough water to cover the cabbage.

Set crock pot on low and let it cook for approximately 8 hrs. Stir it all up to check for doneness. If it isn't done, you can put in a large pot on the stove, with extra water if needed, and cook on med.-high till done.

I serve it with hot crusty rolls or French bread. You can cut up the ingredients the night before and put in the refrigerator.

Put the pot in water to keep them from turning brown.
