Raisin Oat Molasses Crinkles

Great cookies to top off a Sunday full of football, friends, and food or just for a treat for the first day of school. My family loves the aromas of fall baking!
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup steel cut oatmeal
1 cup raisins
sugar for coating
water
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.


Combine shortening & sugar; beat until light & fluffy


Add molasses and egg; blend well


Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger,& salt


Add to molasses mixture; mix well


Stir in raisins and oatmeal


Cover and refrigerate until firm.


Grease cookie sheets and shape dough into balls.


Roll in sugar and place 2 in. apart on cookie sheets


With a spoon, drizzle a drop of water over top of each cookie


Bake 12-15 minutes until set


Cool 1-2 minutes


Remove from cookie sheets and cool on wire racks
