Strawberry Kolaches

Total Time:  9 Hours
  20 Kolaches
1-8oz cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1egg yolk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 c. sour cream
1/2 c. sugar
4 c. all purpose flour
2 pkgs  yeast
2 eggs beaten
11/2 tsp salt
1/2 c. Butter or marj.
1/2 c warm water
1 jar strawberry preserves

Mix cream cheese, egg yolk, 1/4 c.sugar and vanilla together in a mixing bowl and set in the refrigerator.

In a saucepan heat sour cream and add 1/2 c. sugar,11/2 tsp salt and either the butter or margarine. ( I prefer the flavor of butter )

Dissolve yeast in the 1/2 c. warm water and add this to the sour cream mixture.Mix in 2 beaten eggs and flour and mix well. DO NOT KNEAD! Put dough in greased bowl and cover and refrigerate overnight. Make into balls ( about 20 ) on a pan, flatten balls to1/2 inch thick, grease them with the margarine and let them rise 10 minutes. Make intentions in the center and fill with cream cheese and on top of that 1 tsp. of strawberry preserves. Continue to let the dough rise until double. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25 minutes until lightly brown.

These are as good as the ones you get at the bakery! Take the time to make them, they are worth the effort.....
