Tequila and citrus are natural amigos, so why not infuse a whole bottle of the powerful stuff with the combined flavors of orange, lemon and lime? The result works great in a margarita, but it makes even more sense in a Texatini or in the frozen watermelon margaritas. Or enjoy an icy shot straight from the freezer.
- One 750-ml bottle good-quality silver tequila
- Zest of 1 large orange, removed in one long thin strip with a peeler
- Zest of 2 large lemons, removed in long, thin strips
- Zest of large limes, removed in long, thin strips
Pour out and reserve about 1/2 cup of the tequila. Add the citrus zest to the tequila (a chopstick helps push them down).
Return the reserved tequila to the bottle, cap the bottle, and let the tequila stand, agitating the bottle occasionally, for 48 hours before using. Freeze for long-term storage.
