Wild Rice Casserole

Yield:  6 servings
This is an old family recipe that is great during the cold winter months. Great Thanksgiving side dish.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1 cup wild rice & 1/2 cup white rice
1 1/2 lbs ground beef plus 3 garlic sausages (or Italian)
1 cup celery, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 can cream mushroom soup
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 cup chicken broth

DIRECTIONS
1. Cook rice just to boil. Drain. Add fresh water and boil again until cooked.


2. Brown meat, drain. Add vegetables and sauté. Add rice to vegetables. Add mushroom soup and chicken broth.


3. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Stir once or twice while baking. Uncover last 1/2 hour to brown.


4. Optional: Add almonds for extra crunch.
