A very good knife to have
Overall this is a very good knife to use around the kitchen. It is very sharp and well made. It has a good comfortable grip and the handle does not seem to be easily degradable. It is a hard plastic material that is slightly textured to prevent slipping. I have used it quite a bit and the edge seems to be holding up pretty well. It is forged (not stamped) with full tang and seems virtually indestructible. I know that sharpening it (when it is time to do so) is not going to be a very simple matter (Wusthof makes a special -albeit flimsy- sharpener for this knife), but it is a pretty good knife overall and I can't imagine anyone would go wrong with it. Is it a good value for its price tag? Well, it is a matter of personal interpretation, but I think it is a bit overpriced given the alternatives. The cutting board that comes with it is nice and tries to give you a better value for the cost, but it is not quite so useful as it is fairly small for any serious cutting job - maybe it is fine for serving some cheeses. But overall it is a good and well made knife with a good blade that is sufficiently thick to make it sturdy and yet manageable.

Happy with the German knife but am truly insulted that the cutting board was MADE IN CHINA. I ordered this under the impression that all was made in Germany. What a disappointment. Of course I will not use the cutting board because I DON'T BUY CHINA MADE PRODUCTS.

It is sharp, quick, multi-purpose and prevents cuts with it scalloped sides.
