redi-check checks

The Redi-check thermometer has work past my expiation for I have used it in many ways from checking doneness of meats, keeping a check on slow smoking temperatures, to checking temperatures of oil to fry a turkey in. Also I live in a mobile home where I can’t even get cell phone reception inside but I do get a reading on the remote inside while I was slow cooking. Thanks Randy

My husband loves it! No more guesswork!

We grill ALOT in the dark and were always struggling with whether something was done. Got this thermometer for my husband, the grillmaster, and he loves it. Its easy to use and has been a great help. The only complaint he's had so far was that there was no setting for fish, but I explained that part to him. I plan on using it for prime rib next time in the oven as well. I'm sure it will be GREAT there too!

Great Idea!

This is an excellent product. I really like the remote feature as I can be in other areas in the house and still get an accurate temperature for the oven. The only issue is that sometimes the receiver loses its connection to the thermometer and then has to be resynchronized. Overall, excellent product and I would highly recommend.

The Redi-check remote thermometer has worked flawlessly for a week. The range for the remote is great, I can roam about the house and yard without an interruption in signal. So far, so good.

should of bought this sooner

We love to grill with charcoal with friends and family. With the remote you can walk away with remote in pocket and not burn your food.

Arrived non-functional.

The thermometer came promply with the rest of my order and I eagerly unpacked it and read the directions. The portable receiver worked, but the transmitter was not sending a signal. I tried using my own, new batteries, but it still didn't work. I called Customer Service and was told that the problem was probably with the temperature probe. They sent a new one (free) which arrived about a week later. I plugged in the new probe, and the unit still didn't work. I called Customer Service again and this time was told the the transmitter was probably faulty. They sent a new transmitter (free) and it arrived about a week after that. Everything works now! The Customer Service Representatives were pleasant and didn't ask for any proof of purchase and my problem was resolved, but it's been a month since the thermometer arrived and I hadn't been able to use it until just a few days ago.

I bought one for my father and one for my father-in-law. It seems to work ok. My dad used his inside for the oven and it worked fine. My father-in-law used his outside on the grill. The reciever would not get the signal well. I don't know if it was interferance or just poor signal pick up.

This thermometer has been fabulous for oven and grill cooking. We used it when smoking a pork shoulder and the remote portion of the thermometer lets us keep tabs on the meat temperature without having to open the grill and let all the smoke and warmth out. It also gives us the freedom to work around the house and have the remote with us with the temperature alarm to let us know that the programmed temperature has been reached rather than having to keep running to the oven or grill to look at the temperature. This is a new must have in our house!

still figuring out all the functions

Used simply as a meat thermometer I grilled the best steak I have ever cooked. It's great to be able to keep track without standing over it every second.

I love this-not having to get up & check all the time, and not having to lose heat by opening the oven periodically.

Review

This is a Christmas present. I have not tried it. I will leave that up to the person who is going to recieve it on Christmas Day. I have rated this product on the opinion of some one I trust, Alton Brown.

Replacement probe needed

This is the second Redi-Check Remote that I have purchased. I like the product but I wish it was possible to purchase new probes instead of having to purchase a whole new thermometer but I guess that is asking too much.

Very Disappointed

We purchased this thermometer for our smoker... what a waste of money. The smoker is on the other side of a WINDOW and it still won't read when we are inside the house!! I could see if we were expecting it to go through walls or a far distance, but we're talking maybe 10'! We even opened the window to see if it would work and it didn't.

Product did not work as advertised. I am waiting for replacement.

Great Item

My husband uses this to monitor the meats that he cooks in his smoker. It has been a great help because he does not have to keep opening the door to the smoker to stick a thermometer into the meat to get a reading. The remote makes it easy to see the temperature while in the house since the smoker is outdoors.

Time

Although this tem guage is very nice, it takes quite awhile to read thru the book to find out the "how tos". Soooo, if you've purchased this, make sure you take the time to read the booklet that comes with it. It's a wonderful little package that has many qualities to it.

My boy friend grills almost everyday and the remote thermometer is one of the best gifts he has ever received. He first tried it grilling drunk chickens and it worked perfect. He did not have to check as often as the thermometer told him what he needed to know without leaving the comforts of his chair. I would recommend this cooking thermometer to anyone who grills.

Loved it!

I loved the Redi-Check Remote Cooking Thermometer and Timer...it worked perfectly on my Thanksgiving turkey. The price was great...but when you add the tax and shipping it gets pretty costly.

I got this as a gift for my fiance and he absolutely loved it. Now he has no excuse for overcooking the meat ;)

Works great
