About Emile Henry… In the Burgundy region of France is the legendary maker of fine French cookware named Emile Henry. There, potters still hand craft each piece from the local Burgundy Clay - one of the purest of clays, and finish each one with a process known as CERADON, which makes them extremely solid and durable. Containing no lead, the clay is one of the best materials for baking and serving.

The glazes in the Provencale collection are transparent, creating bright, vibrant colors for your kitchen. With these fun salad bowls, you can serve soup, salad or pasta.

Emile Henry's ceramic bakeware and tableware is made in Marcigny France since 1850 from high fired Burgundy clay. The natural clay is unsurpassed for conducting and retaining heat. Emile Henry's Ceradon® is an exclusive process to produce strong and durable ceramic bakeware and tableware for everyday use:

  • Extremely hard glaze - does not scratch
  • Thermal properties: keeps hot, keeps cold - use directly from freezer to oven to table (0°F to 500°F)
  • Easy to clean by hand or in the dishwasher
  • Shock resistant - highly resistant to chipping

Bowl size

I found the bowls to be beautiful, but for some reason much bigger than I had expected. They are called salad bowls and I did not think to look at how many inches wide they were. They are HUGE and way too big for saleads with a meal. One other thing....the bowls had stickers which were stuck right to the middle of the bowl inside. They were impossible to remove and when I got them off, they left a very sticky residue that was not likely to come off. I was sad to have to return these but they were a size that I just would never use.
