Sipping espresso has been elevated to an elegant occasion with these Assam highball glasses by Bodum. Winner of the European iF Design Award, the Assam double wall glasses can be use the whole year round. You can use them for your cold drinks in summer and hot drinks in winter. They are made of a very strong but yet light weight glass (borosilicate glass). They can safely go in the dishwasher and microwave. No coaster needed.
Bodum's insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass that weighs less than traditional glassware. Used to make scientific lab glass, borosilicate glass (medical grade glass) is stronger than traditional "soda-lime" glass and can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Some people may perceive the glass to be "thin" as they hold it. It is important to understand the difference between borosilicate and soda lime glass. Borosilicate glass doesn't need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is dishwasher safe and will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 100 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it. Simply treat it as you would any glass product and it will stand up to every day use.
Our insulated, double wall glass is handmade by expert artisans. Because this glass is mouth-blown, each one may have slight differences in height, thickness & weight. We suggest placing the liquid first and then the ice. Please also avoid using metal spoons or placing the glass into a crowded dishwasher. These glasses will help to keep hot drinks warmer and cool drinks cooler. For best results retaining heat, pre-heat the glass before use. Dishwasher & microwave safe.

I use these to keep my beer cold long enough and value them for performance and perfect shape for enjoyment of quality beer.
Unfortunately at $15 per glass they are about 3 times what I paid 3-4 years ago at Target (by the style is no longer carried by them). They are easily broken by guests who do not understand delicate fragility. Simply tipping over on a granite top, any form of stacking, or, heaven forbid placing in a sink with other dishes.
In stead of hiding them from clutzes I would buy a lot more if the price was lower.

My wife like's latte's so I microwave a few ounces of milk, pour my espresso in and perfect.

Pre-warm glass with hot tap water while coffee steeps in double-wall Bodum pitcher for 3 or 4 minutes, then pour through filter directly into this glass. Add hot, frothy milk. But keep ice and spoons away from these glasses, very delicate to knocks. I hand wash and put carefully away each day after coffee.

These are great glasses, whether for coffe or shots. They are durable, keep their transparence in the diswasher, water doesn't condense on them, etc. etc.
The only drawback is the wide lip to the glasses, which makes every glass feel like a mug instead of a finely bevelled glass.
