Perugia Blend Coffee Beans by Torrefazione It
Since this company (Torrefazione) and its cafes were acquired and promptly closed by Starbucks, the quality control of the various Torrefazione blends is doubtful. The blends now prepared by Starbucks varies widely. The original objective was not, of course, to expand the coffee offering range of Starbucks but to erase a competitor. If they had continued the quality of Torrefazione I would have no complaints but Starbucks does not.

I have lived and worked in the coffee-loving Pacific Northwest and western Europe.
Torrefazione was the best coffee house experience.
Perugia whole bean make the best espresso.
I hear Starbucks is discontinuing Torrefazione whole bean and will sell ground only.
To make great espresso, you must grind your own beans.
This is a terrible mistake. Please write Starbucks and let them know.
Expensive but worth it
This is a truly great coffee for espresso. I've tried many different roasts and keep coming back here. It's smooth and slightly nutty, with a chocolate finish. No bitterness or bad aftertaste. I ran out and bought some from a well-known large national chain and compared to this it was tasteless to drink and afterward tasted like I'd swallowed a dead rat compared to this. The only downside is that once you get it you won't want to drink anything else.

Yes | No Report Violation »Through the years, I have made Folgers coffee (like my Mom) on the stove top; used quality coffee in a french press carafe; and the past few years use Torrefazione Italia coffee in an espresso maker. There is no comparison in taste - this italian coffee has a wonderful aroma and a fabulous taste both of which I enjoy first thing in the morning. I like this coffee better than that of most high end restaurants, it's the best coffee I ever tasted.

Great Flavor
I tried the Napoli but my wife didn't seem to enjoy it as much as the Perugia and I think it's great as well. I'm glad we tried it and have it on out ship to save program so we never run out.

I have been using this coffee almost exclusively now for the last three years in my expresso machine (La Pavoni Europiccola). I order 9 lb about every three months. Bought in bulk, with shipping, cost is less than $12 a pound, delivered to my door. Always arrives fresh in about 3 days from my order date.
I prefer it to any other bean I have found for espresso; very flavorful, sweet, low on bitterness. In fact, I find it hard to stomach some of the espresso I have had at good shops compared to my own home brew.
But taste is personal. This coffee is worth a tasting, then you decide. I suspect you will order more once you have tried it.
Best coffee ever
I have been buying this coffee for years now and haven't found anything better.

Yes | No Report Violation »My problem with selecting this coffee is that I didn't see anywhere where the beans were rated light, medium, or dark roast. I happen to like my coffee very strong, and ended up with beans that were less that strong. The flavor is good, but its not what I really wanted. So, if you do show this information, I missed it, which could be of some help to you. If you don't show the information, then I suggest you condsider it ..I have enjoyed everything else very much.....Thank you for asking.

I'm not necessarily a coffee snob but please note I enjoy a strong, sweet coffee...black and have found my own little pot of gold at the end of the rainbow in this bag of java, Perugia blend. Discovered it in a coffee bar in Crested Butte last winter, bought a bag and have been buying nothing else for the last 8 months. Enjoy.

This used to be a truly magnificent coffee, with taste as wonderful as the aroma. Unfortunately the quality has declined in the past couple of years. Still excellent, but not as good as it was.

Having used this coffee before, I was accustomed to it's taste and was anticipating repeating the pleasure. These beans had a definite burned flavor greatly detracting from the pleasure I had been anticipating.
This is one of the best tasting coffees that I have found outside of Italy and it is a shame that its quality has gone down.
Very Good Coffee....
All of Torrefazione Italia's coffees are terrific but the Perugia Blend is my personal favorite. It's a true medium roast without any bitterness. The beans are a tad oily so you may have to clean your grinder more often than with a drier roast.
The price is better suited to a pound rather than 12 oz., but it is a great cup of coffee
Best Espresso I have ever had

My absolute favorite way to splurge! Perugia is expensive, but the smooth flavor is worth the ocassional wallet-emptying experience.

Absolutely wonderful coffee. The first we've tried that tastes as good as it smells!
First tried is by chance at one of the best hotels in Seattle, the Pan pacific. ir was GREAT! And we've used no other coffe since we found a source for it at Cooking.com.
Great Coffee -- Used to buy Illy, now this
This works great with my fully automatic Gaggia espresso maker. I like this better than illy, which I used to buy. This is less expensive, too.

This coffee has bold body without being bitter. Rich complex flavor and intense.
Purchased for my mother who drinks iced coffee everyday. She makes it herself now. she used to go to a privately owned coffee cafe where they served the best ice coffees from Italian beans. She noticed that the business started to use a different coffee and asked them what coffee they were using before. The reply was Torrefazione.
Upon receiving the coffee she made herself some iced coffee...... HUGE grin and excitement in her eyes. LOVES IT!
A few weeks later I get a call and it is my mom saying everyday I enjoy this coffee so much and it makes my smile to know I can have quality coffee at home.
The reason I don't think the product is a good value for the price is because you can go to some grocery stores and buy this at a better price and no shipping.
If you can not find this in a store you should give it a chance. This line of beans are fantastic. Go for it!
