Wonderfully rich, with a heady aroma and smooth flavor notes, this fullbodied Perugia Blend™ is a tribute to the coffee-roasting art developed by Torrefazione Italia founders two generations ago. This spirited blend is used for espresso in all of our cafés.

  • Perugia Blend Coffee Beans by Torrefazione It

Since this company (Torrefazione) and its cafes were acquired and promptly closed by Starbucks, the quality control of the various Torrefazione blends is doubtful. The blends now prepared by Starbucks varies widely. The original objective was not, of course, to expand the coffee offering range of Starbucks but to erase a competitor. If they had continued the quality of Torrefazione I would have no complaints but Starbucks does not.

  • Expensive but worth it

This is a truly great coffee for espresso. I've tried many different roasts and keep coming back here. It's smooth and slightly nutty, with a chocolate finish. No bitterness or bad aftertaste. I ran out and bought some from a well-known large national chain and compared to this it was tasteless to drink and afterward tasted like I'd swallowed a dead rat compared to this. The only downside is that once you get it you won't want to drink anything else.

    I recommend this product.

  • Best espresso beans

I have lived and worked in the coffee-loving Pacific Northwest and western Europe.
Torrefazione was the best coffee house experience.
Perugia whole bean make the best espresso.
I hear Starbucks is discontinuing Torrefazione whole bean and will sell ground only.
To make great espresso, you must grind your own beans.
This is a terrible mistake. Please write Starbucks and let them know.

  • A Good Blend

I first encountered this blend in a restaurant on a trip to Santa Fe NM and liked it well enough to ask the waiter where they got this blend. All he knew was that it came in bags marked Torrefazione - which he spoke and I had to reason out the likely spelling. But he didn't know the blend. My wife heard the name and surprised me by buying a couple of the "Dark" blends by Torrefazione from Cooking.com. Those turned out not to be what I had in the restaurant. Turns out my wife mistakes strong coffee for dark coffee and included "dark" in her search for the coffee - which turned up Cooking.com as the best source. So after using up the first batch of beans I then started researching the Perugia blend and read reviews where others had been able to confirm it was the blend they had been given at a restaurant and had enjoyed - so I ordered those beans and they are, indeed, the flavor I remember. I like it well enough that I order 3 bags every 3 months or so. I usually grind it fine and occasionally blend it 50-50 with some good Colombian Supremo. Overall I like it a lot - I'm still searching for the perfect blend, but for now this Perugia is topping my list!

  • Best coffee outside Italy

We first tasted this brand of coffee at a restaurant in Friday Harbor, Seattle. Promptly fell in love with it as we do love the coffee in Italy. By chance we found the real Torrefazione shop in Palermo during our trip to Sicily. We wish we brought an extra suitcase. They would ship it to US but the postage was pretty prohibitive - making this the next best way to enjoy our coffee, buying it through Cooking.com.

  • ABSOLUTELY THE BEST COFFEE I'VE HAD

I had this coffee at the Coast Hotel in Calgary. While not a 5-star hotel, it did not stint on the free coffee packets it gave to guests for their coffeemaker in the room.

Torrefazione Italia's Perugia Blend is absolutely the best coffee I've had, not just in a hotel, but it beats Starbucks' own coffeehouse coffee. I say that because Torrefazione is a division of Starbucks. I kept one of the coffee wrappers, tracked it down once at home, and ordered it on the spot from Cooking.com which has a better deal than Amazon.

If you enjoy..well, are a coffee addict like me, you'll love the rich, definitive taste of Perugia Blend with none of the bitter taste that some roasted coffees have.

    I recommend this product.

  • What I love about the Perugia coffee is that it doesn't give me the jitters and the flavor is full and cocoa-like. I think the beans they use are Robusto beans and I feel that the Robusto bean is actually a better bean and proper roasting is the key to it's consistently rich flavor. I make it in a French press (don't know any other way to make it).

    I recommend this product.

  • Very Good Coffee....

All of Torrefazione Italia's coffees are terrific but the Perugia Blend is my personal favorite. It's a true medium roast without any bitterness. The beans are a tad oily so you may have to clean your grinder more often than with a drier roast.
The price is better suited to a pound rather than 12 oz., but it is a great cup of coffee

    I recommend this product.
