The Parrish Set of 4 Mousse Rings is an indispensable collection of tools for creating a variety of desserts. We love how the seamless design of these rings rounds the corners of baked goods and other treats without leaving obvious edges, creating an impressively circular look. The ringed shape promotes even baking in mousses and tortes while allowing mousse to stand up easily during cooling in order to maintain its shape. Each ring quickly cuts through freshly baked cakes and breads to create round bites for serving alongside ice cream or rich soups and chowders. The set of four mousse rings is dishwasher safe and made of high-quality aluminum in the United States.
Best Used For:
We enjoy using the rings to ensure that cold desserts stand up and that tortes and small cakes are ideally sized and shaped every time. The rings are also excellent for molding and shaping appetizers and for making perfectly circular mounds of rice or risotto.
Sturdy aluminum construction is long lasting
Seamless design results in perfectly round desserts
Ringed shape helps mousse stand up easily
Quickly cuts cakes and baked goods
Distributes heat to promote even torte baking
Excellent size for snack-sized treats and desserts
The build quality of the mousse rings are fine, but they are made of galvanized steel. This is a nickel-based coating that is designed to prevent rust, and is commonly used in construction materials.
The coating process produces an outer layer that can be highly toxic to the human body; special breathing apparatus is required in order to weld it.
After having cleaned the rings very thoroughly before my first use, a grayish-nickel stain was left on the dessert that I had painstakingly prepared...which ended up in the trash, and was replaced by a scoop of ice cream. While embarrassing, it was better than potentially providing a lethal toxin to my guests.
I plan to purchase a length of stainless steel tubing and make my own molds for all future use.
The Rings worked great but after looking at the product; I thought the rings to be very overpriced. I made the lemon mouse but needed 6 rings. I was able to use 2 cans by removing both ends. It worked perfectly.
At most specialty shops these are made out of stainless steel and are considerably more expensive. Being aluminum they do oxidize a little, and deform easier, but they still serve their purpose well at a fraction of the cost. I purchased 3 sets and use them to mold tartars and such.
I was looking for this item ever since I see them used on Iron Chef, and Cooking.com is the only place I found them available and my next dibnner party they will allow me expand my cooking presentations.
For whiule I thought I would have to make something home made to use for these recipes and presentations!
The fact that they have the proper height to make mousse rings or whatever you choose and that they can go into the dishwasher is super. Aluminium is far better than any other product that will show rust spots! For that it's a great value for money.
This a rare item, I saw used on Iron Chef and was about to make some from used cans until I saw this. It allows for a very nice presentation for many unusual recipes. some which will be featured at my next party.
We love these aluminum rings! They are really nicely made --very smooth, one-piece aluminum, so not only is there no worry about rusting or welds to corrode or break, but they are naturally quite non-stick. We have been using them to poach eggs in, and we don't even need to butter them. They are very light, good looking, and a very versatile size. These feel like an amazing bargain at the $10 we paid for them.
