The French bee was originally chosen during the coronation of Napoleon to appear on his official coat of arms. The la Rochere glass collection was inspired by an authorized travel set belonging to Napoleon in which the bee pattern was used. Today that pattern is displayed in a Paris museum, the delightful 3-dimensional bee adorning each piece of la Rochere glassware. La Rochere glass is known for its uniquely clear and beautiful look, yet is sturdy -- heavy-duty enough for every day use, and dishwasher safe. Founded in 1475, the la Rochere factory is the oldest glass factory in France, producing this unique and collectible glassware by melting a mixture (around 1450 degrees centigrade) of sand, soda, and lime, with other added ingredients.

I was very happy to receive these glasses. Had seen them before at a brunch we attended on vacation. So glad I was able to find them at a good price (and used coupon). Look adorable on a tray on my diningroom table.

These are elegant, simple and versatile glasses. I love them because they remind me of the everyday wine glasses we used back in the 70s in France. They feel good in you hand and are thick durable glass with a simple bee motif that symbolizes anything you want. For me it's a reminder of the importance of bees in our ecosystem.
I love the clear glass and the size works for any beverage, alcoholic or non. It's a great value and a great conversation piece as well.

These glasses are lovely. They feel substantial. The glass is thick, and the bees are cute. They have a country look. There is a visible vertical line on each side where apparently, the mold had a slight opening. It gives them a rustic look, but not everyone may want this.
I am very hapy with them.
