For centuries, Native Americans used cedar planks to grill fresh fish and game, imparting a smoky flavor to foods. Now, you can replicate those rich flavors by adding a smoky flavor to your favorite foods on the grill with these Cedar Barbeque Planks. Each plank is big enough to fit two servings and can be used with gas or charcoal barbeques. Include an extra plank or two if you're cooking for larger groups. It works on both gas or charcoal barbecues. Just soak the planks in water first to help prevent them from splitting as they heat up. The bottom and sides of the plank will become blackened as your food grills; just toss the plank after grilling and use another one the next time. Not intended for indoor use.

I have used other cedar planks that emit a better flavor than these planks.
I chose these planks because of the price. I now know you get what you pay for. I would not order these planks again.

Salmon

by Nora, CA
June 23, 2008

My friends were BBQ salmon on cedar and I was so impressed especially after tasting the salmon that was prepared. The taste was moist, not dry or fishy. So I have cooked several times with the cedar and have always been pleased with the out come. My son, who loves fish will eat one complete meal on the cedar without sharing. We try very hard to eat healthy and not prepare fatty foods, so this is really the best way to go. This will be the 2nd summer that we have used the cedar and the average price is from $4.99 to $5.99 each.

I use these planks twice a week for grilling fish, chicken, and steaks. They work incredibly well (no burning or charring of the meat) and provide a great smoky flavor to anything you cook, even vegetables.
For a set of 6, this is the best value out there.

Salmon on the grill is easier than I thought

by Amy, MD

My husband loves to use his gas grill, and I love for him to eat healthy. So I'd been wanting to try salmon on the grill, but our local grocery stores don't stock cedar grilling planks. When I found these cedar planks at the Food Network Store, I couldn't wait to give them a try. We've already made grilled salmon twice, and we both love the flavor. They are easier to use than I expected. I definitely recommend them.

The "cedar" is extremely flimsy, hollow, like styrofome. Very combustable, even after soaking. Not much Cedar aroma, especially after openning the package. Extremely expensive for individual usage in a restaurant that sells a lot of salmon.

I saw a receipe on the Kraft Food website using these planks when cooking salmon. Kraft foods had a link to cooking.com as a place to purchase the planks, so I purchased them. I love grilling, love salmon and using the planks - food is full of flavor! Thanks Cooking.com and Kraft Foods!

These are the first cedar planks I've ever used so I can't compare with other brands but these brought such a nice aroma to the salmon I will most likely buy these again. Couldn't ask for easier cleanup!

WE HAVE PURCHASED THESE BEFORE AND REALLY LIKED THEM. THE ONES I BOUGHT HERE WERE GIFTS FOR OUR RELATIVES. THEY ARE VERY INTERESTED IN THEM AND CAN'T WAIT TO USE THEM. IT COULD HAVE HAD A LITTLE MORE RECIPES ON THEIR USE. WE'VE USED THEM WITH FISH AND CHICKEN. WE WILL TRY OTHER RECIPES, PORK AND BEEF. OVERALL WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT.

Having to pay so much shipping makes many products too expensive.

Satisfied. We have used cooking planks from different companies and have had to get the fire hose out. These cooked the food (we always do salmon) perfectly, added such great flavor and no flare-ups. Will order again.

I have not had the opportunity to use these yet, but I did have some fish BBQ'd on them at a local restaurant and the taste was phenomenal. I am looking forward to trying these soon and will write again.

I found these same planks at Stop & Shop for half the price I paid. After soaking them I placed them on the grill and they caught on fire.

This has to be the worst purchase ever.
