This stovetop moka express is used for making rich, authentic espresso. Made of aluminum, its distinctive 8-sided shape diffuses heat perfectly, releasing a wonderful aroma.

Bialetti is the world's most recognized coffee company - in fact, 90 percent of families in Italy own a Bialetti product. Its quality and authenticity have expanded from the original Moka Express to dozens of coffee makers used for producing flavorful Italian coffees.

To Use:
Pour water in the boiler. Insert the funnel-shaped metal filter into the base. Add finely ground coffee to the filter. Screw the upper section tightly on the base. Place the pot on a heat source until the water is brought close to boiling point creating steam in the boiler. A gasket ensures a tightly closed unit and allows for pressure to safely build up in the lower section, where a safety valve provides a necessary release in case this pressure should get too high (with clean filters, that should not happen).

The steam eventually reaches a high enough pressure to gradually force the surrounding boiling water up the funnel through the coffee powder and into the upper chamber where the coffee is collected. When the lower chamber is almost empty, steam bubbles mix with the upstreaming water, producing a characteristic gurgling noise.

As with percolators, the pot should not be left on the stove so long that the coffee boils. Ideally, with a little practice, it should be removed from the heat before it actually starts gurgling--usually, when only about half of the top chamber has been filled.

  • Rich coffee

My husband went to Sicily and this coffee pot was in the room where he stayed. He raved about the coffee when he got home and we just had to buy one. It makes a very rich flavorful brew.

  • Excellent espresso maker. It does a better job than my Krups machine that was 5X the cost. It is really simple. My only complaint is that you have to tighten it down so much and it still leaks a little bit. I think a slightly thicker gasket would be great. Be sure to use it correctly. I tried washing with soap, not knowing any better, and it tasted horrible. After several cleanings and seasoning it with grounds, it is much better. The espresso flavor keeps getting better.

    I recommend this product.

  • Makes great espresso

This makes the best espresso. It more than enough for a morning and then an afternoon cup. Build is good, clean up is easy. Just one thing, it's a guessing game when the coffee is completely brewed.

  • BIaletti Moka Pot 6 cup

I read tons of reviews before making my purchase, and watched YouTube videos on how to use the Moka Pot...it is unbelievably simple and I can't believe I didn't buy one years ago! And it will look beautiful in my kitchen. If you are looking for a cup of strong coffee, I recommend ordering the 6 cup size, as the "cups" are espresso-sized and not standard coffee cup size. I bought this instead of a Keurig...one third the price AND made in Italy instead of China! And I can still make a cup of coffee in about the same amount of time.

    I recommend this product.

  • My husband has been hooked on the McDonalds mochas and spending alot of money every week in the drive thru window. He no longer has to make that stop because this product makes that coffee drink he loves. Just a few extra steps after the espresso is done and we have duplicated that mocha at home. Easy to care for too. Just wipe clean with plain old water and you're ready to go again.

  • Perfect for home

I bought this for my boyfriend who is a diehard coffee with a shot of espresso drinker. The weak coffee from our Keurig just wasn't cutting it! This product is easy to use, easy to clean and makes great tasting espresso. Add milk and some sweetener (I use Stevia) dip some shortbread and enjoy! The instructions are a loose translation from Italian, they made me smile!

    I recommend this product.

  • Great Product!

I bought one for myself a few weeks ago and loved it so much that I bought two more to give as gifts. I think it is a great gift idea, reasonably priced, small size for easy cabinet storage and something they might not think of to buy for themselves. Ironically, one of the espresso makers was for my niece who had just bought one for herself! (and loves it!)

    I recommend this product.

I highly recommend this espresso maker! Easy to use, the espresso is really good (rivals what you buy in a coffee shop), and it is very reasonably priced. I love this thing!

  • I love this thing! The only downfall I have is, because it's metal the top can be difficult to screw on and off. Although a little vegtable oil will fix that.

This unit is nice for the mornings when you don't have time to slave in front of the semi-automatic espresso machine. Just fill it with water and coffee then boil. Also good for camping or rv's.

  • Amazing

Bought the French Press and this at the same time - I am never at a loss for amazing coffee now. This creates almost frothy espresso - not like your usual in the store, but still pretty great. I recommend mixing decaf to not give yourself a headache. Easy to drink the whole pot yourself.

  • 6 cup Expresso or 1 1/2 Cups of Americano

I first found this coffee maker in New Zealand and purchased one for my daughter. I had taken an expresso maker that I purchased for camping. I then purchased an additional one to bring home to my daughter-in-law here in Oregon. I searched stores here and did not find this model in the stores, that is when I went on-line and found it. I used this Expresso maker to make 1 1/2 Cups of the Best Americano you could get. I use a little more than a tablespoon of finely ground coffee and fill it with water and it is wonderful. I purchased two of these because I want to take them when I go camping, they work wonderfully on a propane camp stove. This is a very sturdy expresso maker and should last a very long time.

    I recommend this product.

  • Junk

This feels cheaply made and is. It does not stand up to the high heat it needs to be exposed to. It now lives in a garbage dump.

  • My espresso dream

I had planned on purchasing an espresso stovetop maker since I saw it being used on Everyday Italian. When I found this one I knew this was the pot for me. I have used it non-stop since it arrived! I live in an area where there are no gourmet coffee shops, much less grocery stores that carry arugala. Argh. So this little pot allows me to enjoy my espresso. Thanks cooking.com and keep the great offers coming.

    I recommend this product.
