Great First-Time Mandolin

This item has been great for a first time mandolin usage. It has the safety features that are easy to understand and maintain so you don't have to worry about accidentally cutting yourself. The holder works okay but it doesn't hold everything perfectly so you might have to use your hand but it does the job if you don't use it too much. Its nice and light and can be rested on the edge of a bowl which makes cleanup easier. Also, it slices really nice with no effort! Has three adjustable sizes and it is easy to clean. For the price and the fact I don't use it every day it does the job great!

I love this slicer. I live in a Motorcoach so space is important and this folds compact and easy to clean. I went back to order three for gifts and the price had jumped $10 - so didn't order. A great value for the price I paid.

This is the only mandolin that I have ever used and I love it, and the price you can't beat. I have 2 food processors but enjoy the slicing things by hand.

Uses

Suitable for limited uses, due to lack of variation in type of slice. Can only do straight slices with variation only for thickness of slice. No crinkle-cut, no shredding. Cannot accommodate large pieces of vsegetables. Howsever, what can be done is done neatly and consistently.

Not user friendly

I was slicing strawberries and they kept slipping off the pusher. Worse than that was the slight rise on the blade which caught them when I tried to return for another push. I finally started doing them by hand and ended up slicing my thumb. Not my favorite kitchen tool. It did all right with an apple and a sweet potato, but I still had to start them by hand. I'll use it until I get a different style.
