  • MOST HELPFUL REVIEWS

  • Oxo is one of my favorite brands, and hands down this is the best canopener I've ever used. It may take a little getting used to (esp. since cans still look sealed until you use the little pliers to pull off the lid), but once you do, you'll never want another canopener again.

  • A great can opener

I really like this can opener, as it easily opens cans without leaving a sharp lid or can to dispose of.

It's easy to use (just like a regular can opener), and is a good value for the money.

  • Great Can Opener

Since I have carpal tunnel - I was having difficulties with every hand held can opener I had until I found this one. It is the easiest, once you get the hang of it and it does not put any pressure on my wrist.

  • I wan not able to purchase this product from Cooking.com as it was out-of-stock. I finally found it at a store and purchased one. This can opener is great. The lid comes of neatly without falling into the food and there are no sharp edges on either the can or lid. Since I wash my cans and lids before putting them in the recyle sack so they won't smell, the elimination of sharp edges is a real safety feature. This opener is also easy to keep clean as no part of the

  • Smooth Edge Can Opener by OXO

This has got to be the best manual can opener I've ever used. Since the cutting blade never touches the contents of the can, it always remains clean and sanitary, The handles and knob are comfortable and easy to hold. And it's true - no sharp edges. Highly recommended and well worth the price.

  • Mess-Free Can Opener

I've looked all over the US for a can opener like this but hardly anywhere seems to sell them for a reasonable price. I'd usually pay about US$10-15 for something like this but there was no where that I could get one for that price.
I do love this can opener but think it a bit on the pricy side.
Easy and comfortable to use and always mess-free!

  • Great buy!

I used to cut myself with stunning regularity while feeding my cats at the crack of dawn. Maybe it was just too early for me to operate items with sharp edges. I finally realized that safe can openers exist and bought one here about nine months ago. Boy has it ever helped. It is super easy to use, opens cans like nobody's business, and best of all I have not had a cut since I bought it.
It is well made, has very comfortable grips, has not jammed once, turns easily (unlike my old can opener which would get gunked up with whatever's in the can and proceed to grind it's way around the edge), and has little pincers so that lifting the lid is a breeze. I love it, my cats love it, my fingers love it, my cans love it, and I cannot recommend it enough.

  • Why aren't they all like this?

This opener took a bit of getting used to, but was well worth it. I don't understand why more openers aren't designed like this. It's clean... the lid doesn't fall into the can, and it's safe... no more sharp edges!!

    I recommend this product.

  • Almost Ultimately Perfect Can Opener

The ONLY flaw in this can opener is that the “grip” to actually open and unseal a can is easily undetected [and thus the reason for rating it a “4” and not a perfect “5”].

The handle size is so perfect that this is THE can opener for anyone with arthritis or carpel tunnel syndrome. There are no sharp edges, whatsoever, and there is absolutely no possibility of the can top falling down into the can and contaminating its contents.

I purchased this can opener for myself two years ago. I have since purchased several as gifts for friends and family members who own anything different than this particular can opener.

Truly a simple little kitchen gadget that one must have – and one which you will not be able to go without having after using it just once or twice.

    I recommend this product.

  • An absolutely great value. I bought an electric smooth-edge opener 8 years ago, and it had just worn out, but I loved it. Couldn't find a well-rated electric still around, so I bought this manual model instead. I am very pleased with it...it opens every time, without the little metal shreds; makes a pleasantly smooth lid; etc. My only problem has been figuring out how to place it on the can, but I'm sure after a little more use it shouldn't be a problem.

  • a bit 'gimmicky', but it does the job. i previously owned an electric handheld opener, which also opened cans leaving no sharp edges.... but it worked less and less well over time, ultimately not opening a third of the cans i attempted. these same cans work fine with this opener.

  • Once you learn how to attach the opener to the can and to use the attached grips to lift off the top after opening, this can opener is fantastic! I have bought one for each of my adult children, as well. The rolled edges do not cut and the action is butter-smooth.

  • Interesting way to open a can and yes it does not give you the sharp edges of the lid like the old fashion can openers we grew up with. It did take a little getting use to lining up the can cause you can't really see it line up visually but the marking on the can opener helps to guide you. Very easy to turn the handle without straining or effort. Totally happy with this can opener and will not go back to the old fashion sharp edge ones.

  • This is a very easy to use, very safe can opener. The only draw-back I've found - and this would be true of any opener of this type - is that you can't use the lid to press off unwanted liquid by pushing the lid down into the can. The lid won't fit into the can because of the opened seam.

  • The first time I tried to use this can opener, I dropped the can! But once I figured out how it worked I became a believer. This is a wonderful product. I have lups and opening cans used to be really difficult and painful and this makes it a cinch. And I guess I could have always gotten an electric one but I don't have that much counter space and I can stow this one away in my utensil drawer. In fact, I like it so much I'm buying one for my mom.
