I checked our local cooking supply store and their ramekins did not have the solid ceramic feel of the ones I ordered. I think the BIA endorsement made the difference for me, since I could not see or hold the items before purchse.

These seemed to be okay quality (made in china) but pay attention to the dimensions they were smaller than expected.
